Police are appealing for information after an elderly lady fell and suffered injuries after being robbed of her handbag in Seaford.
The 69-year-old victim was walking in Bramber Lane on Monday (February 10) and was close to Coldstream House when she was approached from behind and her handbag was forcibly pulled from her. She fell to the ground and suffered minor cuts and grazes.
Her attacker, who is thought to be a young male wearing dark clothing, ran off with her tan/cream coloured handbag towards the Crouch.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward, especially if they saw anyone suspicious in the area at the time of the incident or beforehand.
The stolen handbag has since been recovered though some items are still outstanding.
Local Police Sergeant Stuart Mullins said, “This is a nasty incident and is being treated as a robbery. Offences of this sort are rare in Seaford and we are very keen to find the person responsible.
“Until there I would urge the public to be wary of walking along alleyways or secluded routes. We are also asking that anyone with any information come forward especially if you think you might have seen the attacker or know who it is.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101.
