The box office for the 36th Chiddingly Festival – which runs from September 20 to October 5 – is now open.
Award-winning comedian Susan Calman will be performing her act Lady Like as part of her first ever UK tour (September 26). Calman is well-know from her appearances on The News Quiz, Calman is Convicted (Best Radio Comedy 2013 – Writers Guild Award), QI, HIGNFY, Fresh Meat and Would I Lie To You. There will also be drama in the form of Spitfire Solo (September 25), a blend of theatre, music and film written and performed by West End actor Nicholas Collett, plus satire from sharp-tongued surrealist rebel poet and songwriter Attila the Stockbrocker (October 1).
The Festival also welcomes Lisa Knapp and her folk band (October 3). Lisa was nominated for Folk Singer of the Year and Best Album at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2014 and was winner of the Best Original Song category with Two Ravens. Americana group The Curst Sons will be playing Folk and Blues in the Six Bells pub on September 30.
For those who prefer jazz, the Asaf Sirkis Trio will be performing on Saturday September 27. Israeli born Asaf Sirkis is currently one of the British Jazz scene’s most creative drummers. Classical music lovers will enjoy the Elysian Singers (October 5), one of the UK’s leading chamber choirs who delight audiences with their music from the Jacobean court of King James I.
Visitors will have the chance to sample local ales at the annual Beer Festival (September 27/28), with live music and a barbecue. Running alongside the Beer Festival, there will be an art and craft exhibition, children’s craft workshops Morris dancers and a Mummers play on Sunday September 28.
