A 21-year-old Eastbourne woman has been given a 20-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, for drug dealing.

Courtney Birmingham, unemployed, of Beach Road, admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine and cannabis when she appeared at Lewes Crown Court yesterday (Thursday, March 3).

She was also made the subject of a 12-month supervision order and ordered to forfeit £925.

Her prosecution followed a police investigation in which numerous text messages were found on her mobile phone, offering the drugs and arranging to supply them within the local community.

Inspector Rachel Barrow, of the Eastbourne neighbourhood policing team, said, “We welcome this sentence and it should serve as a stark reminder to all drug dealers in Eastbourne that we will actively target you.

“We rely heavily on information offered from the local community about who these drug dealers are and where they are operating. Once we have this information we will always act upon it.”

Anyone wishing to provide information about suspected drug dealing should email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 (www.crimestoppers-uk.org).
