Eastbourne Police charge a man and teenager with separate hate crime offences

Police in Eastbourne have charged a man and a teenage boy with separate hate crime-related offences.

The man is to appear in court accused of racially abusing a door supervisor.

Police were called to Bolton Road at around 11pm on FridayMay 23 to a report that a man was being abusive to a door supervisor at the ‘V Bar’.

Calvin Alexander Rumble, 25, of Leeves Close, Heathfield has been charged with racially or religiously aggravated fear or provocation of violence.

He was released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on July 16.

In a separate case, a 16 year-old boy was been released on bail by Eastbourne Youth Court when he appeared before magistrates on 1 July.

Police were called to Eastbourne railway station just after 10pm on Friday June 13 to a report that a visiting German language student had had his mobile telephone stolen.

The boy who is from London was arrested and has been charged with theft from the person.

The boy will re-appear at Eastbourne Youth Court on Tuesday July 15.
