Eastbourne’s Nick Reed made film history last night (Sunday, March 2) when he scooped an Oscar for the Best Documentary Short.
Nick attended sixth form in Eastbourne and co-produced the film with his sister Pip, who lives in Pevensey Bay.
The documentary was called The Lady in Number 6: Music Saved My Life.
The 39-minute long factual film focuses on the life of Alice Herz Sommer – the world’s oldest survivor of the Holocaust.
Alice, who sadly died last weekend at the age of 110, was an established London-based pianist and used music to overcome the terrors she experienced under Hitler’s regime.
