Eastbourne man arrested after van smash following burglary

An Eastbourne man has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs, vehicle theft, failing to stop for police and dangerous driving in Brighton.

Officers spotted a white Trafic van allegedly speeding through lights in Old Steine at 1.40am on Tuesday (February 11).

The van collided with the roundabout at the Mill Road junction with the A23 at Patcham a few minutes later.

The 34-year-old driver was arrested and an 18-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft.

Both are currently in custody for interview and further enquiries.

The van, and property found inside, are suspected of having been stolen during a burglary at an address in Marine Drive, Eastbourne, on Monday evening (February 10).
