The south east’s biggest free extreme sports festival is taking place at venues across Eastbourne next weekend (July 12-13).
Eastbourne Extreme, now in its 11th year, boasts a roller derby tournament with local ladies the Bourne Bombshells ready to skate for the prize.
The event, the only outdoor roller derby tournament in Europe, is going to be bigger and better than ever as the Bombshells can proudly reveal a new format for this year’s event.
While the Saturday retains the traditional format with the Bombshells competing with London Rockin’ Rollers, Croydons Vice Squad and Surrey Roller Girls for the coveted title of Extreme Champions 2014 the Sunday brings games that represents derby in all its forms.
Featuring more than 150 skaters there will be every level of the ladies’ game with rookie, intermediate and advanced games, a men’s game, and there’s a co-ed game as ladies and gents join forces to battle it out and also an exhibition game from the juniors, including many of Eastbourne’s own New Bournes.
Councillor Carolyn Heaps said, “If last year is anything to go by, visitors will be treated by good weather whilst cheering on the Bombshells!
“Eastbourne Extreme is a great event for all ages and with the additional live music stage and live screening of the World Cup, it is set to be a great weekend!”
