Drivers named and shamed in drink-drive campaign

Two men from Eastbourne are the latest to be named and shamed by Sussex Police after being charged with drink-driving this weekend.

As part of a month-long campaign, any drivers who are told to appear in court on suspicion of having committed a drink or drug-driving offence will have their names and addresses published.

In the week before Christmas, a further 18 people in Sussex have been charged and their names released, including two men from Eastbourne.

Warren Minto, 33, was arrested at 12.05am on Friday, December 20 after police were called to a man trying to drive out of a car park in East Grinstead.

Minto, of Latimer Road, Eastbourne, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on January, 15.

Amir Ziaifard, 52, was arrested at 1.45am on Sunday, December 22 after officers stopped a car they believed was speeding in Princess Road, Eastbourne.

Ziaifard, of Derwent Road, Eastbourne, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on February, 5.

James Holder has been disqualified from driving for 12 months after appearing at Hastings Magistrates Court on Friday, December 20 charged with drink-driving.

The 30-year-old from Hailsham was stopped by police on November, 30 while driving along Seaside, Eastbourne, with a breath-alcohol level of 52 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - 17 microgrammes over the legal limit.
