The Airbourne bucket collection, which raises cash for the flying festival and local charities, is being operated independently this year.

In previous years the Eastbourne Hospitality Association has organised the collection, but it has been decided that the Airbourne Bucket collection should be an entirely ‘stand-alone’ and independent effort, run by the community, for the community.

It will have its own ‘uniform’ of a brightly coloured T-shirt and an identity which is synonymous with those who want to contribute to the continuation of this four day flying event for Eastbourne.

This year, Marco and Cathy Giorgi (Afton Hotel) are responsible for organising the bucket collection which they are doing wholly as individuals who support Airbourne.

Helping them is Brian Cruddas and Don Perman who are both Rotary members. Rotary has chosen Demelza and “Chailey Heritage to support this year. The idea is that if people have had a good day out at Airbourne, they each put £1 in the bucket.

Those willing to help collect will be involved for the last two hours of flying time and half an hour afterwards.

Anyone who can help on one or more of the days should email giorgicathy@gmail.com or marcogiorgi@hotmail.co.uk.
