The daughter of a Seaford man who has been missing for more than a week is urging the community to keep a look out for the frail pensioner.
Kathy Butcher is concerned for the welfare of the 77-year-old who was last seen at his home in Chichester Road on Sunday December 29 at 3pm and is thought to have disappeared between then and 8pm.
Richard John Wise is described as white, 6ft 2ins with grey/brown short hair.
He is believed to be wearing a blue anorak, light-coloured trousers and brown lace-up shoes.
Mrs Butcher, from Wiltshire, said her father had disappeared into ‘thin air’, and she was ‘absolutely devastated’.
Despite efforts by Sussex Police and volunteers to help trace him he still has not been found, with several possible sightings drawing a blank. In the meantime the Sussex coast has been lashed by gale force winds and heavy rain and Mr Wise is known to be without food, drink or his regular medication.
Mrs Butcher, who travelled down to Seaford following her father’s disappearance, said she had been asking people if they had seen her father and asked them to put posters up.
The 52-year-old, who said her father was on medication for neurological problems, added, “He’s just disappeared into thin air, with no CCTV or lead.
“I came down as I wanted to make sure a lot more people know about his disappearance.”
The fashion designer has also taken to Twitter in a bid to find her father.
She added, “His disappearance is totally out of character.
“He is a very quiet and intelligent man, who is very proud and would never go out without his dentures but he has done.”
She said the father-of-four, who also has five grandchildren, loves cricket, adding, “He used to play for the Upper Dicker cricket team, he also loves horse racing and was always frequenting the local bookies.”
Mr Wise is now retired but used to own Wise Coaches, based in Hailsham, which is still run within the family.
