Dancers from Eastbourne and Hailsham who are planning to take part in the World Dance Cup Finals have been given a £350 helping hand from Wealden Police.
Members of the Zoe Pennington Dance Studios will represent England at the World Dance Cup finals in Portugal in June and July.
The group needs to raise £12,000 to fund the trip. So far they have managed to raise £4,000.
The donation comes from the Police Property Act Fund, which is made up of money received by the police from property confiscated by order of the court and then sold.
Chief Inspector Gary Pike said, “I am please that we are able to assist in a small way. They are an extremely dedicated group who obviously enjoy dancing.
“You can see this through the hard work they put in. I would like to wish them good luck at the finals.”
Thirty dancers from dance studios have been chosen and will perform in four group dances at the championships.
Two dancers Eleanor Baker and Lily Overton have also been chosen to perform solo dances.
Principal Zoe Pennington said, “I’m very proud of each and everyone of the team for this achievement and hope that they all have a fantastic experience in Portugal representing their country.
“Dance World Cup in Portugal here we come. Well done to all my fabulous girls and boys.”
