A MILITARY wedding took place at a wedding fair at the Winter Garden last weekend.

Samantha Perkins and Christopher Pelling tied the knot in the Gold Room on a stage which was later used for a wedding dress fashion show as part of the fair.

The bride was greeted by two Scottish pipers on arrival for the ceremony in the Gold Room which was attended by 120 guests, during which the Bourne Chorus performed a rendition of Wherever You Are by The Military Wives. The groom, best man, and several guests all wore full military dress for the ceremony. Afterwards the newly-weds left in a Rolls Royce for a reception in the Cumberland Hotel with their friends and family.

Chris is a Sapper with 36 Engineer Regiment based in Maidstone, normally serving overseas. The couple will now be moving to new married quarters with their six-month-old son, Charlie.

Samantha and Christopher’s wedding took place on Saturday but the Eastbourne Wedding Fair, which raises money for Help For Heroes, took place on both Saturday and Sunday.

The fair was organised by the One Stop Wedding Shop in South Street and is one of the biggest in the area. Around 120 exhibitors attended the fair and brides and grooms-to-be browsed the many cakes, cars, photographers, dresses and florists on offer.

Wedding dress boutiques from in and around Eastbourne also showed off their gowns at the event and there were a number of catwalk shows during the two-day show.
