OLYMPIC fever is starting to hit Eastbourne as the countdown begins to the visit of the torch relay.
As of today (Monday) there are just 15 days until the UK-wide procession rolls into town and residents and businesses are already excitedly making plans for the big day.
With a host of locals and out-of-towners already confirmed as torch carriers for Tuesday, July 17, everything is in place to make sure the relay passes through Eastbourne without any glitches or mishaps.
The timings are pencilled in to the minute, with the local leg getting underway at 3.18pm from Kings Drive.
It will then pass St Thomas A Becket school at 3.22pm before heading along Lewes Road to Upper Avenue.
From there it will be taken over Cavendish Bridge, turn right into Ashford Road and left into Susans Road passing close to the Arndale Centre at 3.35pm.
Runners will then turn left into Seaside Road and right into Cavendish Place and onto the seafront passing the Pier at 3.39pm.
It is set to go past the Redoubt Fortress at 3.48pm and Fisherman’s Green tennis courts at 4.14pm, continuing past Princes Park three minutes later.
The last part of the route will see the torch travel along Princes Road Pevensey Bay Road and will finish at 4.35pm at Monarch Gardens opposite the Crumbles Retail Park.
The local council has also planned a host of activities for the day, including a giant screen showing the relay and local shops have been urged to get into the spirit of the occasion by decorating their windows.
