A petition signed by 8,700 people against plans to close Seaford Household Waste & Recycling Unit was handed over to the chairman of East Sussex County Council.

Councillors Carolyn Lambert and Sam Adeniji handed over the document last Tuesday and were joined by residents to stage a small demonstration outside the county council offices in Lewes.

There have been two public meetings in Seaford on the issue. There are fears that the closure could leads to fly tipping.
