A charity fundraiser who helps people trying to rebuild broken lives has been presented with November’s Resident of the Month award.
Pete Thorley is charity manager at The Matthew 25 Mission, a Christian outreach centre based at Brodie Hall in Seaside.
He’s part of a team which offers a listening ear and sympathetic pastoral care, to people with issues such as addiction, unemployment and homelessness.
The Mission also provides information, advice, food and clothing and has a day centre which is open between 8am-4pm during the week.
The Resident of the Month Award was introduced to recognise unsung heroes in the local community and is jointly sponsored by Advanta Chartered Accountants and the Eastbourne Herald.
Yiotis Diomedou, a director at Advanta, presented Pete with his Resident of the Month certificate.
Yiotis said, “Pete’s an inspiring gentleman who does so much to help people less fortunate than himself and I’m delighted he’s been put forward for this award.
“He certainly deserves recognition for his outstanding actions.”
As part of his prize, Pete will also receive a complimentary meal for two at Ridgways restaurant in Meads.
