Airbourne fans will be given the chance to win a brand new car at this year’s show as the organisers prepare to launch a new raffle as part of the Airshow Funding Initiative.

The lottery will allow people to purchase £1 tickets to be in with a chance of winning a Suzuki Alto, which organisers have naturally chosen to supply in bright red to celebrate the Red Arrows’ 50th year. All proceeds from the raffle will go towards funding future flying displays at the free four-day airshow, which this year runs from August 14-17.

The competition will be launched at Magnificent Motors this weekend (May 3-4). Here, motoring fans can see a demonstration model of the car and purchase tickets. After that, tickets will be on sale at all major events in the town, as well as the Tourist Information Centre and seafront office.

Eastbourne Borough Council’s senior head of tourism and leisure Tracey McNulty said, “Staging the UK’s premier seafront airshow isn’t cheap, but it is an important part of the town’s profile and economy, and we are always finding new ways to maintain our status as a premier destination and attract new visitors.

“With the chance to win such a fantastic prize, this is a great way to raise the necessary funds to secure the future of our biggest event and make one lucky winner very happy.”

Organisers chose the Suzuki Alto 1.0 SZ, supplied by Eastbourne Motoring Centre, for its fuel efficiency and low running costs. The economical engine offers a combined fuel consumption of 65.7mpg and coupled with low carbon emissions of 99g/km, the winner can look forward to cheaper insurance and zero car tax costs too.

Tickets will be available at ‘Beer and Cider by the Sea’ on May 23-25, the Aegon International Tennis tournament on June 14-21, ‘Screen on the Green – Glastonbury’ on June 27-29, 999 Display on July 5-6 and Eastbourne Extreme on July 12 – 13. Ticket sales close at 6pm on Sunday, August 17. For information, visit www.VisitEastbourne.com/win-a-car.
