Women turned out in force during the week to help support Inspired by Bruford’s fundraising campaign for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
Almost 100 people ventured to the Arndale Centre after hours on Thursday for an evening of styling, shopping and sweetening the donation pot, all hosted by the Eastbourne jewellers.
While the staff at Inspired by Brufords have been busy fundraising in previous years, this was the inaugural evening event and nobody could have wished for a more successful night.
A host of local businesses showed their support by offering services free of charge or in return for a small donation. These included Ministry of Hair straightening and curling ladies’ ‘dos, Essential Beauty buffering and manicuring nails, Clinique and Clarins cleansing skin with mini facials and Sheer Bliss introducing many to the innovative new treatment called ‘face-mapping’.
There was a buzz in the air as guests were treated to Pink Fizz and an unlimited chocolate fountain, complete with marshmallows and a fruit palm tree from The Sugar Spot.
Inspired by Brufords continued trading throughout the evening, while With Love Boutique from South Street also tempted people to open their purses with a selection of fancy clothes and accessories for sale.
A handful of lucky ladies walked away with one of the desirable raffle prizes that included a Pandora bracelet and a Mini for the weekend, donated by Chandlers of Hailsham.
While the final tally from the evening is still being counted, with Inspired also donating 10 per cent of their profits from the night, it was revealed that the raffle alone raised nearly £400 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
And the fundraising doesn’t stop there, with Inspired still donating money to charity for every old bra it receives up until the end of October.
