Seaford Town Clerk Samantha Shippen has resigned following an investigation.
The independent investigation was commissioned by Seaford Town Council back in January into a schedule of 10 points of concern raised by Norman Baker MP.
Mrs Shippen temporarily stood down from her post while the investigation was carried out and this morning (July 2) a joint press release, from Seaford Town Council and Mrs Shippen, was released which reads, “The confidential investigation process at the Town Council has now concluded.
“The Town Council and Mrs Shippen have now had an opportunity to meet and discuss the findings.
“Both the Council and Mrs Shippen accept that the matters under investigation are complex, deep-seated and difficult to resolve.
“To enable both the Council and Mrs Shippen to move on from the situation Mrs Shippen has offered her resignation which the Council has accepted.
“The Council and Mrs Shippen consider the matter closed and will be making no further comment. The Council wishes Mrs Shippen well in the future and to thank her for the positive contributions she has made to the Town Council.”
