A four-year-old girl has been left with serious facial injuries after being knocked down by cyclists on Eastbourne seafront.
Little Aaliyah Raj has a swollen and bruised face, tyre marks on her arm and cuts to her legs after the incident on the promenade opposite The Queens Hotel.
Police are now appealing to anyone who may have seen the incident or knows who the two cyclists are to contact them.
Aaliyah, who lives in Oulton Close and attends Pooh’s Nursery in St Philip’s Avenue, said today, “There were two bad men on bikes who knocked me over and then rode over me.”
Her mother Samita said the family had been for a walk on the seafront to get an ice cream.
It happened at around 6.30pm Thursday.
Samita said the two cyclists were heading on their bikes towards the Pier.
“One knocked Aaliyah over and rode over her and the other cyclist swerved around her,” said Samita.
“She was on the floor screaming. I tried to run after them but they carried on towards the Pier. They stopped briefly just to hurl abuse at me and then they rode off.”
Samita flagged down a passing police car and has given detectives descriptions of the two men, who were both bare chested and in their mid 20s.
One was wearing blue shorts and Air Max trainers.
Samita said, “I am going to be contacting the council. Cyclists shouldn’t even be on the promenade. I don’t want them to get away with it.”
An appeal has been launched on Facebook to find the two cyclists and police are also studying CCTV.
