Homes and businesses across Hampden Park have been left without power this afternoon (Tuesday).
Network Power UK confirmed there had been an incident shortly before 1pm which had left a large number of properties in the BN22 9 postcode area without electricity.
A spokesperson said, “UK Power Networks engineers are working to restore power supplies to five customers in the Broadwater Way area of Eastbourne after a third party damaged one of our underground electricity cables.
“The incident initially resulted in 537 customers losing power at 12.56pm although most supplies were back on within three minutes. Our electricity engineers have attended to make the equipment safe and work is continuing to reconnect the remaining power supplies as swiftly as safely possible.”
The vast majority of homes and businesses saw power returned but there are still a small number including the David Lloyd Club with no power.
Engineers are working to restore it and say it will be at least 10pm before it is restored.
David Lloyd Club manager Paul Esson said the club hgad closed.
“The club will hopefully re-open as usual tomorrow however, we do advise calling the club to check we are open before making your journey in,” said Mr Esson.
