The popular eatery Bill’s is coming to Eastbourne.

It is believed to be going in to the former Terminus Pub in Terminus Road which has been empty for some time.

Bill’s is a popular chain which started out on a shed in Lewes and now has cafes and associated shops in Brighton, Tunbridge Wells, Covent Garden and Cambridge.

A spokesperson for Bill’s said the company was recruiting for staff now but could not confirm where it would be opening in the town.

David Tutt, the leader of Eastbourne Borough Council, said he was delighted at the news.

“For the last five years colleagues at Eastbourne Borough Council have been in dialogue with Bill’s about coming to Eastbourne and I’m so delighted that this ambition will now be realised,” he said.

“It is fantastic news and at a time when we are transforming the town centre retail experience it represents a massive vote of confidence in Eastbourne by a very high profile and respected brand.

“I know that lots of people from Eastbourne travel to Lewes and Brighton just because Bill’s is so popular, so to have them in the town is a really exciting.”
