Both boats were in action to two separate incidents on Monday (August 19).
The day got off to a tragic start when the inshore lifeboat crew were tasked to assist the coastguard cliff rescue team with the recovery of a body at Beachy Head. The body was taken back to the inshore lifeboat station and passed into the care of the police coroner.
Later in the day, a visiting Belgium yacht with two people on board got entangled in fishing gear which had been placed in the approaches to Sovereign Harbour.
The gear was anchored to the seabed and the yacht was unable to break free.
The all weather lifeboat was soon on scene and deputy second coxswain Ian Stringer was transferred to the stricken vessel.
The yacht was taken under tow and swung into the tide to release the tension on the anchored gear which was then cut free. It was then towed to the harbour.
