The news that the popular eatery Bill’s Restaurant is to open a branch in Eastbourne has been welcomed by businesses in the town.
The Chamber of Commerce, which represents hundreds of shops, firms and organisations in the town said this week it was delighted at the news.
Christina Ewbank, the chief executive of Eastbourne Chamber of Commerce, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Bill’s to Eastbourne and to have supported the council in securing such a well-known and popular brand for the town centre.
“With the first Eastbourne Market of 2014 taking place on March 26, the next few months promises to be an exciting time for Terminus Road and for Eastbourne as it secures its reputation as a leading leisure and shopping destination.”
It was announced last week that Bill’s, which started off as a stall in Lewes, was planning to open in the former Terminus Pub in Terminus Road, which has been empty since last year.
Bill’s is a now a popular chain and now has cafes and associated shops in Brighton, Tunbridge Wells, Covent Garden and Cambridge.
The company has been recruiting staff on its website in recent weeks.
