A remarkable young girl has raised more than £2,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support after having her head shaved in front of her entire school.

Amy Cooper set herself a target of £1,000 going into the challenge and now, with the deed done, she has more than doubled that figure.

As well as donating the impressive sum of money to Macmillan, Amy’s tresses will be sent to the Little Princess charity, which makes wigs for young girls with cancer.

Amy, who attends Willingdon School, wanted to do something to help Macmillan after the charity did so much to support her step-sister, who sadly died of a malignant brain tumour last year. Two of Amy’s grandparents have also been diagnosed with different cancers.

Wayne from Concept Hair in Stone Cross kindly offered to chop Amy’s hair and shave her head on the stage at her school last Friday (April 4).

Amy is still collecting donations at www.justgiving.com/Amy-Cooper7.
