Seaford Gymnastics Academy scooped gold, silver and bronze at the competition

A GYMNASTICS team based in Seaford is celebrating after winning two gold medals in a competition.

Seven gymnasts from Seaford Gymnastics Academy, housed in Newlands School, attended the Chichester four-piece event which covers bars, beam, floor and vault.

Girls in the group’s main older squad, aged between 12 and 15, received two gold, three silver and two bronze medals for their efforts.

The gold medallist in the 15-plus age group was Emily Harmer for floor and beam, silver medal at Bars and also won a bronze medal at the Table Vault. In the 12-14 year group was Jessica Duke, Ophelia Stephenson, Alice Charlesworth along with Frances Smoker who won silver at Table vault. Molly Maguire won silver on Beam and Sarah Townsend won a bronze at Table Vault too.

Lorraine McKenzie, head coach for Seaford Gymnastics Academy, said, “We didn’t enter the Chichester four-piece for a few years as it is a very technical competition bordering the level of Womens Artistic gymnastics.”
