An Eastbourne solicitors firm has raised a massive £7,200 during last year’s Will Aid campaign.
Quality Solicitors Barwells has offices across Sussex and have proved that where there is a will, there is definitely a way by raising thousands during the annual campaign.
Will Aid clients were offered a basic Will and asked to consider making a voluntary donation instead of paying the firm’s usual fees.
Since being founded in 1988, Will Aid has enabled legal firms to raise over £15 million for nine of the UK’s favourite charities.
At the same time, the campaign has encouraged and helped thousands of people to write their Will.
The last campaign took place in November last years and local will-makers responded with enthusiasm and gave generously.
The money raised wuill be shared betweening ActionAid, Age UK, British Red Cross, Christian Aid, NSPCC, Save the Children, SCIAF in Scotland, Sightsavers and Trocaire in Northern Ireland. The funds raised are already being put to work by the Will Aid charities.
The firm has taken part in ten Will Aid schemes, and this year’s fantastic result means they have raised a grand total of over £64,000 for the Will Aid charities over the years.
Partner, Stephen Ash, spoke of his pride.
He said, “We are proud to support Will Aid for the tenth year, it’s a fantastic way to encourage people to make their will and benefit such fantastic charities.”

“This has been a very successful campaign and overall we have received over £1.7 million.
“The Will Aid charities will be able to put the money raised to immediate use to make a real and immediate difference to the lives of the people in need in the UK and all over the world.”
Freda Acheampong, of the NSPCC, who visited the firm to thank the staff involved and to present their Will Aid certificate, said, “The NSPCC would like to thank Quality Solicitors Barwells on behalf of the many thousands of vulnerable children who they help every year.
“By generously giving up their time to participate in the scheme, Barwells has helped to raise hundreds of thousands in donations and gifts in Wills for the NSPCC.
“We’re the only charity fighting to end child abuse in the UK and Channel Islands. We help children who’ve been abused to rebuild their lives, we protect children at risk, and we find the best ways of preventing child abuse from ever happening.
“The money raised through Will Aid is vital; ensuring that we can continue to fight for every childhood.”
