Wounded Afghanistan soldier talks of his ordeal
A SOLDIER who had his leg blown off in Afghanistan has spoken of the moment he was hit by the mine, the secondary explosion which killed three of his comrades and of his remarkable attitude to recovery.
Just eight weeks on from the blast, 21-year-old Rifleman Christopher Howard of 2nd Battalion the Rifles was in Eastbourne at the weekend visiting his mum, Donna Sharp, 41, of Firle Road.
Herald reporter Sarah Marshall met Rfm Howard and he told her what happened on August 13 in Sangin, Afghanistan.
