Windsurfer gets into difficulties off Eastbourne pier

A WINDSURFER got into difficulties yesterday when he was unable to remount his board and was attempting to swim ashore near Eastbourne Pier.

Members of the public on the pier became concerned when they spotted the windsurfer in trouble unable to pull his sail out of the water. Several onlookers contacted Dover Coastguard who in turn requested the launch of the inshore lifeboat.

The volunteer crew took the casualty ashore to the angling club beach.
