Welcome back Treasure Island
SEAFRONT attraction Treasure Island re-opens its doors this week.
After several months of extensive refurbishment, the play park will open its Buccaneers Indoor Adventure soft play area for families looking for swashbuckling fun.
The pirate themed attraction closed for some time after its previous owners hit financial troubles and the business folded.
Last year new owners TI Eastbourne Ltd stepped in to undertake a complete refurbishment for the 2012 summer season.
The Adventure Golf is due to reopen later this month, and the outdoor theme park will be completed by July.
Parents have been eagerly anticipating the re-opening of the park, which promises fun-filled play for youngsters in a clean and safe environment, without arcade machines.
Phil Lewin, from TI Eastbourne Ltd, said, “We’ve had a great response from local parents who are keen to return to Treasure Island, with many having fond memories from their own childhood.
“It was important to us to get the right mix of fun for children, but ensuring comfort for parents too – while making it all very affordable with our family membership costing just £25 for the year.”
Children will have three indoor play areas to choose from, including an under fives area, tots area and larger area on two levels featuring slides, rope ladders, swings, play ball shooters and more.
There is also a Hungry Pirate Café overlooking all play areas, exclusive only to those using the soft play, with cappuccinos, paninis and free wi-fi internet.
A TV zone with fluffy beanbags and cartoons will also provide an area for kids to chill out after their play and two party rooms are available for birthdays.
Eastbourne Borough Council’s tourism spokesperson Neil Stanley said, “TI Eastbourne Ltd has invested considerable amounts of money into this refurbishment and are doing a great job of turning it into a superb quality theme park.
“This is a hugely important attraction for the many families visiting the seafront, and it is great to see the park busy again.”
The outdoor theme park, which opens in time for the summer school holidays, features a lagoon, sandpits and shipwreck with slides, rope bridges, ladders and zip slide.
The Treasure Island park also includes a glass-fronted beachfront restaurant, due to open later in the summer, offering great views and food from breakfast through to evening meals.
Treasure Island is currently from 9.30am to 6pm daily with entry to Buccaneers Indoor Adventure £1 for adults, £3.50 for children off-peak or £4.50 on weekends and school and Bank Holidays.
Annual membership for £25 provides free entry for adults and £1 off entry fees for children, including free entry on the day of joining.
