Vote: Should Eastbourne elect its mayor?
Eastbourne has a new mayor in Councillor Mike Thompson but should locals be given the chance to elect the position?
A host of cities went to the polls last week to vote on whether or not local mayors should be chosen by the voters rather than councillors.
And although many backed the traditional way of doing things, which sees councillors on the local authority selecting a mayor from within, some have been won over by the thought of having a Boris vs Ken style contest on their own doorstep.
