Volunteer Wynne enjoys blooming lovely 90th
HOSPITAL volunteer stalwart Wynne Dougill celebrated her 90th birthday with her volunteering friends in the Friends Flower Shop at Eastbourne DGH.
Wynne was presented with a bouquet of flowers by Peter Nash, chairman of the Friends of the Eastbourne Hospitals, to mark her 90th birthday.
Wynne has been working in the Flower Shop for the last 27 years where she works one afternoon a week.
She started volunteering in Newcastle when she was 40 years old after her husband died.
Wynne said, "I'm overwhelmed by people's kindness. I am part of a tremendous team of volunteers working in the flower shop at the hospital, who are part of a wider group of volunteers helping patients and visitors to the hospital, raising valuable funds for the fantastic work of the Friends.
"Volunteering is a golden opportunity to make new friends and get out the house to do something worthwhile for the local community."
Mr Nash said, "Huge congratulations to Wynne for reaching this landmark.
"She has been a stalwart of the flower shop for the past 27 years where she brighten up people's day with her enthusiasm and cheerfulness."
