FORMER Wimbledon champion Boris Becker will be one of the star attractions at the Legends Event to open the AEGON International on June 12.

The German, who shot to fame when he won Wimbledon as a 17-year-old, left, will feature in a singles match against Goran Ivanisevic and in a mixed doubles match with Martina Hingis, a fellow Wimbledon Champion, who have both already signed up for the Legends Exhibition Event.

He said, “It’s always great to put yourself up against great champions and for this reason I’m really looking forward to facing Goran on the centre court in Eastbourne.

“To have the opportunity to open the AEGON International which has such heritage and prestige in the world of tennis is a real honour and I look forward to seeing some old and new faces in Eastbourne in June.”

The final attending legends will be announced over the next few weeks.

Gavin Fletcher, tournament director, said, “To secure one of the all-time greats of the sport for this exhibition match is excellent news.

“Boris appeals to all tennis fans and it will be a memorable spectacle to see him facing Goran on centre court.”

Daily ticket prices for the exhibition event start at £25, which also includes access to the AEGON International matches.

Those customers who have already purchased ground access passes for June 12 will have an opportunity to ‘top-up’ their ticket to secure access to the centre court for this extravaganza.
