Two decades of posting letters come rain, snow or sunshine
Two posties have been rewarded for their long service with Royal Mail.
Richard Downer, 45, from Eastbourne and Diane Page, 42, from Hailsham, both celebrated 20 years' service each with Royal Mail at the Polegate Delivery Office, serving customers within the BN26 postal area.
Richard started work in July 1987 and Diane started the day before the Great Storm in October 1987.
Diane said, "I was dodging greenhouses, trees and fences and I did wonder what I was letting myself in for."
Over the years each has delivered to all the BN26 area, using trolleys, bicycles, vans and by foot.
Twenty years later sees both Richard and Diane looking after the welfare of their colleagues as trained First Aiders.
As part of their long service award from Royal Mail, Richard chose vouchers towards a new mountain bike and Diane opted for a taster flying lesson.
Richard said, "We both still enjoy the work, especially meeting our customers and the outdoor life."
Diane said, "There have been many changes within Royal Mail over the past two decades and the job wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but it suits us just fine."
