Tribute website for memory and funds
A tribute fundraising website set up by St Wilfrid’s Hospice has gone from strength to strength and more people are being asked to sign up for 2013.
The local hospice recently launched its new Tribute Funds website which provides people with the opportunity to remember loved-ones and to raise money that will provide free hospice care for someone else.
A Tribute Fund can provide family, friends and colleagues with a platform to share their thoughts, feelings and memories through journal entries, photographs and lighting of candles.
Once a Tribute Fund is set up, people can support it in any way they choose. Some people might like to make a donation on a special occasion such as a birthday or anniversary, which can be done by lighting a candle or giving a gift. Others may wish to organise fundraising events or activities such as parties, coffee mornings or quizzes.
Those hoping to get in shape for the new year may choose to set themselves a physical challenge such as a running event or cycle ride.
The very first Tribute Fund was set up by Mr Douglas Axell in tribute to his wife Edith.
Douglas wrote on Edith’s tribute page, “My love for Edith will last forever, she installed in us all something very special, she was special.”
Later, he told the Tributes Fund team at St Wilfrid’s Hospice, that setting up his tribute to Edith had given him a new purpose in his life.
People can set up a Tribute Fund by visiting the St Wilfrid’s Hospice website at www.stwhospice.org.
A spokesperson from the Tribute Fund team at St Wildrid’s Hospice said, “The decision to set up a fund is a very personal one and you may have further questions you would like to ask or require further information.”
