Talks were underway as the Herald went to press yesterday (Thursday) to move a group of travellers which set up camp off Eastbourne seafront.

The group, of French origin who had been in Bexhill, moved into the lower car park by the South East Water Treatment Works in Prince William Parade on Tuesday morning.

Council officials and police officers have visited the site to speak with the travellers in a bid to move them on to Bridie’s Tan, which is the specified site for travellers on the A27 at Lewes.
