Threats made to BNP supporters

SOME Eastbourne BNP supporters have received threatening calls and e-mails after their names were leaked on the Internet last week.

The list published online showed full contact details of BNP activists and members, including phone number and email addresses.

Twenty-six people from Eastbourne were included on the list, as well as others from Seaford and Hailsham.

Nick Prince, area organiser for the Hastings and Eastbourne BNP Group, said, "My name appeared on the list and I received two calls on the number listed on the leaked list and I responded by telling him that he had phoned the official BNP phone number for East Sussex and that all calls were monitored and recorded at all times. He immediately hung up.

"A handful of members had received calls and e-mails in East Sussex and these have been reported to the police and I would also like to add that Sussex Police have been prompt, helpful, sympathetic and unbiased at all times."

The party's leader Nick Griffin said the list dated from 2007 and contained some people who are no longer members.

Mr Prince added, "Although only a fraction of the paid up members in the Eastbourne and Wealden areas were actually named on the list, support and advice is available for all.

"Most share the view that they would rather be named on a BNP membership list than suffer the public humiliation of being named on a Labour, Tory or Lib Dem list."

A High Court injunction has been obtained banning the publication of the list.
