Thai disruption puts John's Christmas concert at risk
WELL-KNOWN Eastbourne entertainer John Mann is concerned he may have to cancel his Christmas show because he is stranded in Thailand.
Anti-government protesters occupied Bangkok international airport on Tuesday, trapping thousands of travellers in the airport.
On Wednesday, most were evacuated to local hotels and the Foreign Office said all Britons affected were safe.
However, all flights have been cancelled and thousands of tourists are now stranded in Thailand.
John, who plays the piano and the organ, is holidaying at a resort 80 miles away from the capital, but his flight back to England is due to take off from Bangkok airport.
He is now concerned he won't be able to get back to Eastbourne in time for his Christmas concert at the Winter Garden on December 4.
The blockade comes at the height of the country's tourism season. More than 860,000 British tourists visited the country last year.
A Foreign Office spokesman has advised British travellers to stay in contact with their tour operator and airline for updates.
An Eastbourne Theatres spokesman said yesterday that anyone with a ticket for John Mann's Christmas show on December 4 should call the box office nearer the time for more information.
