Talent contest organisers call for performers

BRITAIN may have plenty of talent, but has Willingdon?

The village will be holding its own talent contest on June 15 (7.30pm) at St Mary the Virgin Church and organisers are hoping plenty of performers of all ages will turn up to strut their stuff.

Willingdon’s Got Talent will not only highlight the best of local performers, it will also raise much-needed funds for the church.

And the best of the best will be showcased at Willingdon’s summer fair on July 21.

The evening will be compered by Steve Hewlett (professional ventriloquist) with judging by Ric Scott (Sovereign Radio), Canon Fr Martin Onions (Vicar) and Mrs A Bissell.

Entry is by application form which is available from the Parish Office (501763), the Red Lion or The Wheatsheaf pubs in Willingdon.

The closing date is May 25.

The judges will also be choosing a prince and princess to carry out duties at the fair.

Prospective princes and princesses need to be over the age of eight, ‘confident and self-assured’ and available to carry out duties at the fair on July 21.

Application forms can be picked up from the Parish Office (501763), White Lavender in Freshwater Square or Willingdon Stores, Wish Hill.
