Staff make sure DGH patients won’t miss out

IT ISN’T just street parties and carnival goers who are celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this weekend.
Staff at the DGH are determined to help patients get into the swing of things, with a host of wards already decked out in bunting and flags.
Staff on Friston Ward have been decorating the corridors, much to the delight of their young patients, while colleagues on Seaford Three plan on going one better by bringing in cakes and Victoria sponge to share with patients. And, as one member of staff let slip, some of the elderly ladies will also be treated to a small sherry to mark the special occasion. Housekeeper Marie Frost is bringing in the goodies and covered the ward in union flags during her breaks.
Elsewhere at the DGH volunteers set up a trio of Jubilee flower arrangements in the florist shop. Joan Brown, Val Gower and Judy Spacek put together the centre pieces, one of which is a crown while the other shows the Queen in her trademark hat, gloves and bag.
