St John’s Meads is praised by inspectors

A CHURCH of England school has been praised for the way its Christian beliefs shine through during lessons by a religious inspection team.
A team from the Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools recently published their report on St John’s Meads Primary and graded the school’s overall approach as Outstanding.
Julie Burnett-Kirk praised the staff and, feeding back, she said, “The distinctiveness and effectiveness of St John’s Meads as a Church of England school are outstanding.
“There are very strong Christian beliefs and values underpinning all the school does that creates a vibrant and exciting environment for learning.
“This school lives its vision where they ‘aim to be a caring, Christian learning place, developing our love of God and others, our self respect and courtesy’.
“This is seen in very good quality leadership, worship and the teaching of religious education that is highly valued by the children their families, the local churches and the wider community.”
And the inspector gave particular praise to the school’s leadership, its close relationship with the local community and its clear Christian vision.
It also challenged staff to come up with new ways for the children to get involved with planning and leading worship sessions.
Headteacher Alison Flynn was congratulated for strengthening links between the school and the diocesan education team, while the inspectors were convinced that parents continued to hold St John’s Meads in the very highest esteem.
The report concluded that the pupils were proud of their Christian schooling – with many saying they felt the school was somewhere they call took care of each other’.
Reacting to the report, a delighted Alison Flynn said, “The staff, governors, parents, carers and pupils of St John’s Meads are delighted at the outcome of the recent inspection.
“We would like to thank all who support the school for their positive contributions to making us such an outstanding church school.”
