Sight Loss is the theme of the first garden entered into the RHS Chelsea Flower Show by SeeAbility, which has residential homes in Seaford.

Supported by Coutts, the private bank and wealth manager, The SeeAbility Garden aims to inspire people to think about the impact of a visual impairment. It will highlight specific sight conditions and express them through its design and a range of different materials and planting.

The garden’s message will be an overridingly positive one focusing on enriching life through maximising limited vision and other senses.

Fiona Grafton, registered manager of SeeAbility’s Applewood service, said, “It’s great that SeeAbility will be at the Chelsea Flower Show in May.

“The garden will be a tremendous opportunity for SeeAbility to raise awareness about our specialist work with people who have sight loss and multiple disabilities.

“Many of the people we support enjoy our garden which provides an opportunity to appreciate different sensory experiences.”

SeeAbility’s Barclay House and Applewood residential homes in Seaford offer specialist support to people with a visual impairment and additional disabilities to help them develop essential life skills for greater independence and quality of life.

The Bradbury Centre in Seaford provides an activity and leisure service giving educational and vocational training. SeeAbility, founded more than 200 years ago, was formerly known as the Royal School for the Blind.
