Shoppers breeze in for a taste of France
Seaford French market
WIND and drizzle failed to stop shoppers supporting a popular French Market that came to Seaford on Friday.
Residents and visitors to the town were able to browse goods on offer and snap up a selection of tasty French treats including cheeses, pates, sausages and paella from stall holders.
Bread was baked on the premises and there were handbags, purses, leather goods and French music.
Dave Argent, a life member of Seaford Chamber of Commerce, who organised the French Market said on the day, “It’s quite windy with spots of rain but it’s not been too bad. The wind has dropped from earlier this morning and it seems to be going quite well.”
The market, which took place in Church Street, followed on from a similar event in May.
The French Market started in Seaford about five years ago but this year is the first time it has been hosted twice. Stall holders have asked for another next May.
Councillor Bob Allen said, “Things like this do attract people into the town and hopefully there will be a spin-off in the local shops.”
The France at Home team is showing off goods at other venues in Sussex and was at Bexhill on Saturday. For more information about the France at Home team visit: www.franceathome.com
