Waiting for Video...

A memorial service was held in Eastbourne this week to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the bombing of the Central Fire Station during the Second World War.

Six fire service personnel lost their lives when a German bomb exploded on the building, which was on the site of the council offices at 1 Grove Road.

Firefighters and civic dignitaries, as well as relatives of those who died, attended the service on Thursday afternoon outside the council building.
