Sensory garden opened at fete

THE SUN shone on Kestrel House's charity fete and sensory garden opening recently.

The nursing home staff created raised flower beds and a wishing well full of plants in the grounds.

Residents Peggy Smith and Albert Markham also helped out by planting colourful hanging baskets.

Cllr Colin Belsey celebrated the opening of the new garden with staff, residents and their families and everyone enjoyed a charity fete in aid of St Wilfrid's Hospice.

A guess the name of the teddy stall, raffle, barbecue, tombola, and a homemade cake stall were just some of the attractions on offer.

Visitors gave generously and helped raise a total of 429 for the local hospice.

Gill Cordingley, activities coordinator at Kestrel House, said, "It was a fantastic day. The sun shone and everyone had a lovely time. I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff because without them it would not have happened."
