Second seal is sighted along coast

A SEAL was spotted at Cuckmere Haven last Wednesday.

The sighting comes weeks after members of the public spotted a seal in Alfriston.

Trevor Weeks, national coordinator for the British Divers Marine Life Rescue, said it could be the same one that was seen in Alfriston but it was quite possible it was a different one as seal sightings are not too uncommon at this time of year.

He added, "We have quite a population of seals and have a passage of seals going along our coastline.

"There have been sightings off the coast of Bexhill and Eastbourne and the other side of Brighton. At this time of year the fish are closer to the shore and seals will follow that food source.

"I would urge dogs owners to keep their pets under control and for people to keep away and not interfere with the seals."
