Sadie and Ted celebrate 60 years of marriage
HAVING two left feet was lucky for one East Dean man who met his wife of 60 years at a dance.
Ted Fears, who was based at Glasgow for military service, was at a YMCA Christmas Day do in 1944 when he spotted his future spouse Sadie.
Sadie said that despite the fact that Ted couldn't dance, the pair took to the dance floor and decided to stay in touch.
Ted, who was later based at Bovington, popped the question to Sadie and the pair later married in Scotland on November 19, 1949.
The couple enjoyed their honeymoon in Aberfoyle in the Highlands and set up home in East Dean where Ted's family was based.
The pair, of The Fridays, went on to have two sons and a daughter, and nine grandchildren.
Sadie worked in nursing while Ted put his apprentice skills to good use in a garage.
They celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary at the Hikers Rest in East Dean with family and friends.
The pair enjoy going to the theatre together and Ted also enjoys collecting model cars and gardening while Sadie likes shopping.
When asked the recipe for a long marriage Sadie said the pair happily squabble 'but end up laughing'.
