Road works start on Pevensey’s A259
ROAD works will be starting on the A259 near Pevensey next week.
The repairs will improve the surface of the road between the Pevensey roundabout and its junction with the B2095 leading to Hooe Common.
The work will be carried out over a distance of approximately two miles and will involve overnight lane closures, access to some local side roads will also be affected.
The work will start on Monday (July 2) and is expected, weather permitting, to take three weeks to complete.
Martin Wright, Highways Agency asset manager, said, “The work will repair cracks in the road surface to ensure that the road remains safe for all road users.
“To minimise disruption we will carry out the work in short sections to reduce the length of closures per night.
“It will be carried out overnight between 7pm and 7am on weekday nights, when traffic flows are lowest.”
The work will be carried out using lane closures with temporary traffic lights and a 40mph speed limit with motorists passing the work site using a convoy.
On some nights access to local side roads will be closed. However, fully signed diversion routes will be in place via local roads.
