Residents group will help spend £1 million
Residents of Devonshire ward in Eastbourne are being urged to attend a launch event to learn how they can help spend a £1m lottery grant.
The National Lottery and Local Trust announced in December that Devonshire West had won the
cash as part of the Big Local initiative, aimed at helping disadvantaged communities.
A special launch event will be held at Bourne School on February 2 to invite local people to get involved in the scheme and to gather ideas on how the money should be spent.
Visitors to the drop-in event, open from 10am to 4pm, will be able to express their interest in joining a residents group which will have the power to decide how the cash should be used within the next decade. There will be an art area for local children to draw, paint or model their ideas as well. Once a group is formed it will have 18 months to create an action plan.
