It won’t be the first time Eastbourne’s music man Spencer Freeman has met a senior member of the royal family, but he says receiving his MBE will be the most exciting yet.

Mr Freeman was recognised in the New Year’s Honours List for his services to music and the arts in Eastbourne. In the next few months he will be invited to be formally presented with the accolade and he is looking forward to the occasion.

He said, “If I am lucky it might be the Queen, if not it will be another member of the royal family which will also be wonderful.

“I have been to receptions at St James Palace before and had very brief conversations with the Queen but this is by far more exciting than that.”
