Presenter vows to return to show
TV HOST David Dimbleby vowed to be back presenting Question Time this week as he left hospital after being knocked out by a bullock.
The BBC presenter, 71, missed the political debate programme for the first time in 15 years after the beast kicked him on the back on the head at his farm near Polegate.
He was taken by ambulance from his 1.5m country home to the DGH where a wound was stitched and he was treated for concussion.
Mr Dimbleby was replaced on Question Time by BBC Radio 4 presenter and Mastermind quizmaster John Humphrys following the accident last Wednesday.
After spending two nights at Eastbourne District General Hospital as a 'precaution', he was released Friday lunchtime.
He said, "I'm feeling much, much better. I've had an unpleasant 48 hours as I hit my head rather hard.
"I'll be back on Question Time this week. I did watch last week's show and I thought it was very good. I rang John and thanked him for keeping the flag flying.
"It's lovely to be going home although I must say the hospital have been great. I'm tempted to stay another night. My wife has looked after me even better."
Recalling the accident, he added, "These things happen with animals all the time. We were herding the cattle into a trailer and one of them suddenly panicked.
"It pushed through the metal hurdle and I tried to move and that's all I remember.
"I spent half an hour in and out of consciousness and then the ambulance came."
Mr Dimbleby walked gingerly to his black Audi estate as he left hospital before being driven away by wife Belinda Giles, 49.
He will be hoping to get back into the swing of things later this year when planners are expected to give him the go-ahead for a 34 by 17 metre tennis court at his smallholding.
Earlier, this year he was given the go-ahead for a 40 metre by 20 metre horse riding arena in the grounds of his country pile.
